Does money really matter?  “No. Not at all. People matter! Relations matter! “ screamed the facebook memes and Instagram stories. I literally wanted to take you all to this journey – ‘A journey towards the reality’. Are you guys with me?

‘Let’s go to the very common place we all think of- I mean a mall. You might wonder why we are going to a place like mall where we all try to put our reality in back pockets and showcase what we are not actually. The thing is we don’t need to go to Himalayas or any ashrams to get enlightenment. It is everywhere. Over there, look at that sales person speaking better English than most of us. Do you think his job demands him to speak such good English? Nah! He scored 7.5 in IELTS which is a very good score and dreamt of going for M.S. But his financial status doesn’t allow him for that and he ends up working as a salesperson here. By this time, our intelligent mind might come with suggestions like he can opt for bank loans and so on and so forth. Even my mind popped that. And his answer for that is

"I have tried for loans with less interest rates from private and public sector banks. The thing is I need to show assets as collateral security to avail such huge amount. I can hardly buy an economy class flight ticket with the savings I have. I have tried other ways like friends, colleagues but nothing works. I don’t belong to a family which is financially stable and we are four in our family out of which two works for our daily bread. Sometimes I feel that I would have born in Ambani’s family but after all Dhirubhai was son of a village school teacher and someone somewhere has to start from the scratch with their hard work and intelligence. It is my dream to study abroad, it didn’t happen now but I am not giving up yet". He said with a slight smile on his face and continued with his work. My wrenching heart asked “Does money really matter?”

A middle class father who works for his entire life to save money for his daughter’s marriage, a young student who does part time jobs while on their way to make his dreams come true, many out there who gave up on their dreams to support their families. Each one of them can better answer the question. Only they can!

In the end, you need a shoulder to rest, a hand to pat on your back when in doubt, an ear to listen to your miseries and a soul to trust you and to be trusted.
